Saying

Translation of the saying:

Salih ibn Muhammad al-Sabzawari informed us, saying: I heard Mansoor Hashemi Khorasani say: “Ghusl is the greater wudu.” I said: “They say that it does not suffice in place of wudu except for ghusl from janabah.” He said: “Glory be to Allah! Does ghusl from janabah suffice, and ghusl from a lesser ritual impurity does not suffice?! Do they not then use the intellect?!”

Translation of the saying:

Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Harawi informed us, saying: I heard the scholar say: “Performing wudu after performing ghusl is an innovation of the over-scrupulous.”

Translation of the saying:

Hamzah ibn Ja‘far al-Qomi informed us, saying: Because of something I felt in my heart, I used to perform wudu after performing ghusl; so I wanted to ask His Eminence about it, but I forgot. Then, when I came into his presence, he said to me: “Perhaps you perform wudu after performing ghusl!” I said: “Yes, and I wanted to ask you about it, but I forgot!” He said: “Do not (do it). But if you refuse to refrain from it, then perform wudu before performing ghusl and not after it—because performing wudu after performing ghusl is excess, and Allah does not love those who are excessive.”

Translation of the saying:

Zakir ibn Ma‘roof al-Khorasani informed us, saying: Before the sun passed its zenith on Friday, I came to Mansoor to accompany him to the prayer. He said to me: “Wait a while so I perform ghusl for Friday, because I have been continuously busy since morning.” Then he went to the place of wudu and performed wudu for prayer, and afterward he went to the place of ghusl. So I said to him: “May I be sacrificed for you, ghusl after wudu?!” He said: “What prevents me from that?! Is it anything but light upon light?!” Then he entered the place of ghusl and closed the door. Then he called out to me from behind the door: “Except for ghusl from janabah! Except for ghusl from janabah!”
