أخبرنا أحمد بن عبد الرّحمن وعليّ بن داوود جميعًا، قالا: كنّا جماعة عند المنصور الهاشميّ الخراسانيّ، فالتفت إلينا وقال:
لَعَلَّكُمْ تَظُنُّونَ أَنِّي قُمْتُ بِهَذَا الْأَمْرِ عَلَى رَأْيٍ رَأَيْتُهُ أَوْ حَدِيثٍ سَمِعْتُهُ! لَا وَاللَّهِ، لَوْ قُمْتُ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمَا لَضَلَلْتُ كَمَا ضَلَّ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِي، وَلَكِنِّي قُمْتُ بِهِ عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّي، فَعُمِّيَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ، وَسَيُظْهِرُهَا لَكُمْ، فَتَظِلُّ أَعْنَاقُكُمْ لَهَا خَاضِعِينَ!
فتصفّح الوجوه وكأنّ على رؤوسنا الطّير، فقال:
أَوْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَظُنُّونَ أَنِّي دَعَوْتُكُمْ إِلَى هَذَا الْأَمْرِ رَغْبَةً فِيكُمْ أَوْ حَاجَةً إِلَيْكُمْ! كَلَّا، وَالَّذِي فَلَقَ الْحَبَّ وَالنَّوَى، لَوْ لَا عَهْدُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْنَا وَفَضْلُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ، لَاعْتَزَلْنَاكُمْ، وَاتَّخَذْنَا مِنْ دُونِكُمْ حِجَابًا، وَكُنَّا عَنْ مُصَاحَبَتِكُمْ فِي شُغُلٍ، وَكَانَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ بُعْدُ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ، ثُمَّ أَيْقَنْتُمْ أَنَّهُ مَا لَنَا فِيكُمْ مِنْ رَغْبَةٍ وَلَا حَاجَةٍ!
ثم أخذه البكاء حتّى جرت دموعه على خدّيه، ثمّ قال:
إِلَى اللَّهِ أَشْكُو غُرْبَتِي وَضَعْفَ قُوَّتِي وَهَوَانِي عَلَى النَّاسِ! أَيْنَ إِخْوَانِي؟ أَيْنَ أَنْصَارِي إِلَى اللَّهِ؟ أَيْنَ الَّذِينَ سَلَوْا عَنِ الْأَهْلِ وَالْأَوْلَادِ، وَتَجَافُوا الْوَطَنَ؟ أَيْنَ الْمُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَاءِ وَالْوِلْدَانِ؟ أَيْنَ الَّذِينَ رَفَضُوا تِجَارَاتِهِمْ، وَأَضَرُّوا بِمَعَايِشِهِمْ، وَفُقِدُوا فِي أَنْدِيَتِهِمْ بِغَيْرِ غَيْبَةٍ عَنْ مِصْرِهِمْ، وَحَالَفُوا الْبَعِيدَ مِمَّنْ عَاضَدَهُمْ عَلَى أَمْرِهِمْ، وَخَالَفُوا الْقَرِيبَ مِمَّنْ صَدَّ عَنْ وِجْهَتِهِمْ، وَائْتَلَفُوا بَعْدَ التَّدَابُرِ وَالتَّقَاطُعِ فِي دَهْرِهِمْ، وَقَطَعُوا الْأَسْبَابَ الْمُتَّصِلَةَ بِعَاجِلِ حُطَامٍ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا؟ أَيْنَ عِبَادُ الرَّحْمَنِ؟ أَيْنَ رُهْبَانُ اللَّيْلِ وَلُيُوثُ النَّهَارِ؟ أَيْنَ الرِّبِّيُّونَ الَّذِينَ مَا وَهَنُوا وَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا حَتَّى أَتَاهُمْ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ؟ أَيْنَ الَّذِينَ يُحِبُّهُمُ اللَّهُ وَيُحِبُّونَهُ، يُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلَا يَخَافُونَ لَوْمَةَ لَائِمٍ؟ مَا لِي لَا أَرَاهُمْ حَوْلِي؟! هَا هُمْ سَارَعُوا إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ، وَتَرَكُونِي وَحِيدًا فِي مَعْشَرٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ وَلَا يَتَعَلَّمُونَ، وَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ وَلَا يَسْمَعُونَ، يَشْتَرُونَ الضَّلَالَةَ بِالْهُدَى وَيَشْرُونَ الْآخِرَةَ بِالدُّنْيَا، لَا يَعْرِفُونَ مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ إِلَّا اسْمَهُ وَلَا مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ إِلَّا رَسْمَهُ!
فَكَأَنَّ الْحَقَّ قَدْ مَاتَ وَنُسِيَ، وَالْجَوْرَ قَدْ شَمِلَ الْبِلَادَ كُلَّهَا، وَأَهْلَ الْبَاطِلِ ظَاهِرُونَ، وَأَهْلَ الْحَقِّ مُخْتَفُونَ عَلَى خَوْفٍ مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِمْ أَنْ يَفْتِنَهُمْ، وَيُحْكَمُ فِي النَّاسِ بِحُكْمِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَلَا يُنْكِرُونَ، وَيَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ الْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ، وَيُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ عَلَانِيَةً فَلَا يُرَدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَيُفْسَقُ عَلَى رُؤُوسِ الْأَشْهَادِ فَلَا يُنْهَى عَنْهُ، وَيَفْتَخِرُونَ بِالْعَصَبِيَّةِ وَالتَّقْلِيدِ، وَيَلْعَبُونَ بِدِينِ اللَّهِ وَيَسْتَخِفُّونَ بِآيَاتِهِ، وَيَخُوضُونَ فِي الْآرَاءِ، وَيَخُونُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ قُرْبَةً إِلَى الْكُفَّارِ، وَلَا يَنْصَحُونَ، وَلَا يَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَلَا يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ، بَلْ يَرَوْنَ الْمُنْكَرَ مَعْرُوفًا وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِهِ، وَيَرَوْنَ الْمَعْرُوفَ مُنْكَرًا وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ، وَيُحَلِّلُونَ الْحَرَامَ، وَيُحَرِّمُونَ الْحَلَالَ، وَيُبَدِّلُونَ الْأَحْكَامَ، وَيُعَطِّلُونَ الْحُدُودَ، وَيَعْمَلُونَ فِيهَا بِالْأَهْوَاءِ، وَيَأْخُذُونَ الرُّشَى، وَيَأْكُلُونَ الرِّبَا أَضْعَافًا مُضَاعَفَةً، وَيَرْتَعُونَ فِي بَيْتِ مَالِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَيَفْعَلُونَ الْكَبَائِرَ وَلَا يَسْتَحْيُونَ، وَيُضِيعُونَ الصَّلَوَاتِ، وَيَتَّبِعُونَ الشَّهَوَاتِ، وَيَجْعَلُونَ الْمَالَ دُولَةً بَيْنَ الْأَغْنِيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ، وَيَجْعَلُونَ بُيُوتَهُمْ كَالْقُصُورِ، وَيَصْنَعُونَ الْبُرُوجَ بِالْعُرُوجِ، وَيَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ آيَةً يَعْبَثُونَ، وَيَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَخْلُدُونَ!
أَلَا يَرَوْنَ كَثْرَةَ الْقَحْطِ وَالزَّلَازِلِ؟! أَلَا يَرَوْنَ غَلَاءَ الْأَسْعَارِ، وَنَقْصَ الْأَمْوَالِ بِكَسَادِ التِّجَارَاتِ وَقِلَّةِ الْفَضْلِ فِيهَا، وَنَقْصَ الْأَنْفُسِ بِالْمَوْتِ الذَّرِيعِ، وَنَقْصَ الثَّمَرَاتِ بِقِلَّةِ رَيْعِ الزَّرْعِ وَقِلَّةِ بَرَكَةِ الثِّمَارِ؟! أَلَا يَرَوْنَ الْحُرُوبَ كَيْفَ نَزَلَتْ بِهِمْ، وَأَزَالَتِ الْأَمْنَ عَنْ بِلَادِهِمْ؟! أَلَا يَرَوْنَ الذِّلَّةَ وَالْمَسْكَنَةَ كَيْفَ ضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ أَيْنَمَا ثُقِفُوا؟! أَلَا يَرَوْنَ الْكُفَّارَ كَيْفَ يَتَقَلَّبُونَ فِي أَرْضِهِمْ، وَيَسْكُنُونَ فِي مَسَاكِنِهِمْ، وَيَقْتُلُونَ أَبْنَائَهُمْ، وَيَغْتَصِبُونَ نِسَائَهُمْ؟! وَإِنِّي أُنْبِئْتُ أَنَّ أَحَدًا مِنْ هَؤُلَاءِ الْخَنَازِيرِ قَدْ دَخَلَ بَيْتَ مُسْلِمٍ فِي الْعِرَاقِ، فَقَتَلَهُ بِمَشْهَدِ أَهْلِهِ، ثُمَّ تَعَرَّضَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ، فَاغْتَصَبَهَا بِمَشْهَدِ طِفْلِهَا، ثُمَّ قَتَلَهُمَا -قَتَلَهُ اللَّهُ- مِنْ دُونِ رَدْعٍ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ أَوْ أَخْذٍ بَعْدَهُ، وَهُوَ فِي بَلَدِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ! وَإِنِّي لَا أَرَى مِثْلَ هَذِهِ الذِّلَّةِ إِلَّا طَلْعَ الْحُكُومَةِ الَّتِي غَرَسَتْهَا أَيْدِي النَّاسِ، وَ﴿إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ﴾[1]، وَأَرَاهُمْ يَرْضَوْنَ بِهَا، ﴿فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ﴾[2]، يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا أَمْنًا وَيَكُونُ مَرْجِعُهُمْ إِلَى الْفَرَجِ، ﴿ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِنْ حَمِيمٍ ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى الْجَحِيمِ﴾![3] لَا وَاللَّهِ، لَا أَمْنَ لَهُمْ وَلَا فَرَجَ حَتَّى يُؤَدُّوا الْحُكُومَةَ إِلَى الْمَهْدِيِّ، وَفِيهِ أَمْنُهُمْ وَفَرَجُهُمْ، وَهُوَ كَهْفُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ!
ثمّ غلب عليه البكاء، فبكينا معه، وصار البيت ضجّة واحدة!
Translation of the saying:
Ahmad ibn Abd al-Rahman and Ali ibn Dawud both informed us, they said: We were among a group in the presence of Mansoor Hashemi Khorasani. Then he turned toward us and said:
Perhaps you think that I have undertaken this task based on an opinion I have seen or a hadith I have heard[4]! No, by Allah, if I had undertaken it based on them, I would have surely gone astray just as those before me went astray. However, I undertook it based on a clear sign from my Lord that is hidden from you, and soon He reveals it to you, then your necks submit to it!
At that moment, he glanced at our faces, and it was as if birds had perched on our heads. Then he said:
Or perhaps you think that I invited you to this task out of a liking or a need for you! It is not so! By the One Who split the seed and the kernel, if it were not for Allah’s covenant with us and His grace upon you, we would surely have separated from you, placed a veil between ourselves and you, and been occupied from association with you, and there would have been a distance between us and you from east to west, and then you would have realized that we have no liking or need for you!
Then he began to cry, to the extent that his tears streamed down his cheeks. Then he said:
To Allah, I complain of my loneliness, the weakness of my strength, and my insignificance in the eyes of people! Where are my brothers? Where are my helpers toward Allah? Where are those who separated from their families and children and got far from their homelands? Where are the fighters in the way of Allah, and the weak men, women, and children? Where are those who left their trades, damaged their incomes, disappeared from their cliques without being absent from their cities, entered into an alliance with a stranger who would help them in their task, turned their backs on an acquaintance who would prevent them from their goal, came together after being scattered and separated in their time, and severed their ties of attachment to the world’s worthless possessions? Where are the servants of Allah the Merciful? Where are devout worshippers of the night and lions of the day? Where are godly people who neither lost heart nor gave in until Allah’s help came to them? Where are those whom Allah loves and who love Him, who strive in the way of Allah and do not fear the blame of any blamer? What is the matter with me, why do I not see them around me?! Yes, they rushed toward their Lord and left me alone among a people who neither know nor learn nor use the intellect nor listen. They trade guidance for misguidance and sell the Hereafter for the world. They know nothing of Islam but its name, nor of the Quran but its text!
So it appears the truth has died and been forgotten, and oppression has taken over all lands, and the people of falsehood are out in the open, and the people of the truth are hidden in fear of Pharaohs and their chiefs, lest they persecute them, and people are being judged by the ruling of (the time of) ignorance, but they do not deny it, and they fabricate lies against Allah and His Prophet while they know it, and they openly spread corruption on Earth, and no action is taken against them, and sin is committed in public, and it is not prohibited, and they take pride in fanaticism and imitation, play with Allah’s religion, mock His signs, and delve into opinions, and Muslims betray Muslims to get close to disbelievers, and they do not want good for each other, nor do they enjoin right or forbid wrong, but rather they see wrong as right and enjoin it, and see right as wrong and forbid it, and they make the unlawful lawful and the lawful unlawful, and they change the rulings and suspend the limits (set by Allah) and act on desires about them, and they take bribes, practice usury at high rates, take possession of the treasury of Muslims, commit major sins and do not feel ashamed, neglect prayers, follow lusts, circulate wealth among their reach, make their homes like palaces, build towers with high heights, construct a sign on every height as amusement, and take strongholds so that perhaps they live forever!
Do they not see the abundance of droughts and earthquakes?! Do they not see the soaring of prices and the decrease in wealth due to the collapse of businesses and the decline of profits in them, and the shortening of lifespans due to sudden deaths, and the decrease in crops due to slow cultivation, and lack of the blessing of fruits?! Do they not see how wars have descended upon them, and security has departed from their lands?! Do they not see how ignominy and wretchedness have struck them wherever they are found?! Do they not see how disbelievers move about in their lands, settle in their homes, kill their children, and violate their women?! And indeed, I was informed that one of these pigs entered the home of a Muslim man in Iraq, then killed him in front of his family, and then assaulted his wife and violated her in front of her child, and then -may Allah kill him- killed both of them without any restraint before or punishment afterward, and this happened in the land of Muslims[5]! And indeed, I do not see such ignominy except as the result of the governments that the hands of people have sowed, and “Indeed, it is a tree that grows in the bottom of Hell; its fruit is as if devils’ heads,” and I see them content with it, “as they eat from it and fill their bellies with it!” They think that there is security for them on top of it and their return will be to relief, “while on top of it, there is a mixture of boiling water, and then their return will be to Hell!” No, by Allah, there is neither security for them nor relief until they hand over the government to the Mahdi, and their security and relief lie in him, and he is the refuge of this nation!
Then he was overcome by crying, so we cried with him, and the house filled with weeping!
