Saying

Translation of the saying:

Abu Ibrahim Samarqandi informed us, he said: I was with Mansoor Hashemi Khorasani, so he entered a mosque to say prayers in it, then he saw a young man crying in a corner with his tears flowing down on his cheeks, so he stood near him and said: What does make you cry O servant of God?! If you are crying for the world, indeed it will be destroyed, whether you cry or not, and if you are crying for the Hereafter, indeed it will come, whether you cry or not! The young man said: I am crying for my confusion about my religion! Flags have been raised (on every side), and I do not know how to distinguish them, so I fear that I may deny the truth or affirm falsehood and be one of the misguided! Mansoor Said: “Undoubtedly, God misguides whomever He wills and guides toward Himself anyone who repents”, so what keeps you from the Du’a of the ones who repent? He said: What is the Du’a of the ones who repent? He said: After each prayer, say:

“O God! Guide me toward the best way and make me die and live upon your religion, and when the affairs get difficult for me, make me act upon the most correct of them, and when the works get unclear for me, upon the purest of them, and when the religions contradict each other, upon the most desirable of them, and send peace toward Muhammad and his household, and show the truth as the truth to me so that I follow it, and (show) falsehood as falsehood (to me) so that I avoid it, and do not make it alike that I follow my desire without a guidance from You, and make my desire subordinate to Your obedience, and take Your satisfaction from my self, and guide me by Your permission toward that which from the truth about which there is disagreement; because You guide whomever You will to the right path”.

Abu Ibrahim said: So nothing surprised me except that I saw this young man a few months later among a group of our helpers, so I said to him: Do you know me? He said: Yes, you are the one who was in the mosque with Mansoor when he taught me the Du’a of the ones who repent! I said: Yes, what guided you to this? He said: God guided me with that Du’a! One day I was sitting in the mosque and reciting that Du’a, so I heard two men talking behind me, so one of them said to the other: People were not fair! A man came to them and invited them toward Muhammad Umar, so they responded to him, then a man came to them and invited them toward Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, so they responded to him, then a man came to them and invited them toward Mahdi, so they did not respond to him! No, I swear to God, this was not fair! So my body trembled and I turned to him and said: Who was the man who invited people toward Mahdi, so they did not respond to him?! He said: A man from Khorasan whom they call Mansoor! I said: Where can this man be found? He said: I do not know, but here is a man of his helpers who, if he finds goodness in you, will lead you toward him, so I saw him and he led me toward Mansoor, so I realized that he is the one who taught me the Du’a of the ones who repent, and God answered it!
