1 . أَخْبَرَنَا وَلِيدُ بْنُ مَحْمُودٍ السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الطَّبَرِيُّ جَمِيعًا، قَالَا: أَرَادَ رَجُلٌ أَنْ يُقَبِّلَ يَدَ الْمَنْصُورِ فَأَبْعَدَ يَدَهُ وَقَالَ لَهُ: أَتُرِيدُ أَنْ تُغِرَّنِي كَمَا تُغِرُّ هَؤُلَاءِ الدَّجَاجِلَةَ؟! لَا يُقَبِّلُ الرَّجُلُ يَدَ الرَّجُلِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ إِمَامًا مُفْتَرَضَ الطَّاعَةِ، قَالَ الرَّجُلُ: وَاللَّهِ مَا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا لِأَعْلَمَ أَهُوَ مِنَ الدَّجَاجِلَةِ أَمْ لَا، فَعَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْهُمْ.
Translation of the saying:
Walid ibn Mahmoud al-Sajistani and Abdullah ibn Habib al-Tabari both informed us, they said: A man wanted to kiss Mansoor’s hand, then he pulled his hand away and said to him: “Do you want to deceive me as you deceive these dajjals?! No one shall kiss the hand of another unless he is an Imam who must be obeyed.” (Then) the man said to us: “I swear to God, I did not do this except to know whether he was one of the dajjals or not, so I knew that he was not one of them!”
Explanation of the saying:
The intended meaning of this great human by his words: “Do you want to deceive me as you deceive these dajjals?!” is that by kissing the hands of superiors and scholars, people deceive them; because on the one hand, they push them into arrogance and self-conceit and create dajjals from them, and on the other hand, they imagine that there are those who like and help them so they can rush through great matters by relying on them, although most of them do not in fact like or help them and only kiss their hands out of fear or greed! So this righteous servant pointed out that he was not one of them so that people could deceive him with such deceptive actions, and this is one of the differences between the truthful and dajjals.
2 . أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ فَرْهَادَ الْمَهَابَادِيُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدًا صَالِحًا -يَعْنِي الْمَنْصُورَ- يَقُولُ: مَنْ قَبَّلَ يَدَ ظَالِمٍ يُظْهِرُ بِذَلِكَ وَلَايَتَهُ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَبَّلَ اللَّاتَ وَالْعُزَّى.
Translation of the saying:
Musa ibn Farhad al-Mahabadi informed us, he said: I heard the righteous servant (i.e., Mansoor) say: “Whoever kisses the hand of an oppressor to express his affection for him, it is like that he has kissed al-Lat and al-Uzza.”
Explanation of the saying:
Al-Lat and al-Uzza were two of the idols of polytheists in the time of ignorance.
3 . أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخَتْلَانِيُّ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُقَبِّلُ يَدَ وَالِدَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ، أَمَا سَمِعْتَ قَوْلَهُ تَعَالَى: ﴿وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ﴾[1]؟!
Translation of the saying:
Yunus ibn Abdullah al-Khatlani informed us, he said: I asked him about a man who kisses the hands of his parents, so he said: “There is nothing wrong with it. Have you not heard the words of God Almighty that has said: ‘And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy’?!”
