Translation of the saying:

Abu Zakaria Ahmad ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Taloqani informed us, he said: I heard his honor Mansoor Hashemi Khorasani say: The Messenger of God peace and be upon him and his household, never used opium and did not wear evil eye protection and did not compose poetry.

Translation of the saying:

Hassan Ibn Qasim Tehrani informed us, he said: I asked his honor Mansoor about opium, so he said: Indeed it is like alcohol and gambling which in both there is big sin and some benefits for the people, and the sin of the two is bigger than the benefit of the two, therefore avoid it, so that you may succeed, I said: There are some jurists who use it! He said: What do you want from the jurists?! Are the jurists except a number of the people?!

Translation of the saying:

Abdullah Ibn Habib Tabari informed us, he said: I asked his honor Mansoor about hashish, so he said: This is one of its – i.e. alcohol- brothers! Then he said: Whoever holds a cigarette in his hand, he is indeed holding a flame from the fire (of hell)! I said: May God make the Imam of a people who loves pipes ugly! His honor pondered a little and then said: Leave this (subject).

Translation of the saying:

Abu Ibrahim Samarqandi informed us, he said: I heard from the best person I have seen that he says: Smoking is the pleasure of the people of Hell, and I heard him forbidding praying behind someone who smokes.

Translation of the saying:

Abd al-Hamid ibn Bakhtiar informed us, he said: I was at the gate of a mosque with Mansoor, so he saw a man smoking (a cigarette in his hand), so he said to him: Do you like smoke? He said: Yes, he said: “Then wait for the day when the sky will bring a visible smoke; covering the people, it is a painful torment!”, so when the man heard this, he threw his cigarette and said: I ask God for forgiveness and I repent to Him.

Translation of the saying:

Abu Ibrahim Samarqandi informed us, he said: I heard his honor Mansoor say: the money coming from a dog that is played with is Haram and the money coming from smoking is Haram.

Translation of the saying:

Abdullah ibn Habib and Walid ibn Mahmud both informed us, they said: Two men, while arguing with each other, brought the judgment to his honor, so one of them said: This man gave me hashish and I used it, then he came to me and demanded its price from me and raised its price! The other man said: I did not donate it to him, but I sold it! So his honor got angry and said: Indeed one of you gives poison to his brother to kill him and then comes to him and demands its price?! There is no price for him and it has no value.
