Intentionally looking at the private parts of a Muslim is forbidden; because Allah Almighty has said: ﴿قُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَغُضُّوا مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِمْ وَيَحْفَظُوا فُرُوجَهُمْ ۚ ذَلِكَ أَزْكَى لَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ ۝ وَقُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِنَّ﴾[1]; “Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Aware of what they do. And tell the believing women to lower their gaze,” except for the spouse; because Allah Almighty has said: ﴿إِلَّا عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ﴾[2]; “Except from their spouses or those (bondwomen) whom their right hands possess, for then they are not to be blamed,” and doctors in cases of necessity; because Allah Almighty has said: ﴿وَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُمْ مَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا مَا اضْطُرِرْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ﴾[3]; “He has already explained to you what He has forbidden you, unless you are compelled by necessity,” and a person who is willing to testify of fornication with the intention of fulfilling his duty; because Allah Almighty has said: ﴿وَاللَّاتِي يَأْتِينَ الْفَاحِشَةَ مِنْ نِسَائِكُمْ فَاسْتَشْهِدُوا عَلَيْهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةً مِنْكُمْ﴾[4]; “As for those of your women who commit indecency, call to witness four of you against them.” This is also the case with intentionally looking at the private parts of a non-Muslim with enjoyment; because enjoying anyone other than the spouse is absolutely forbidden, and there is no difference in this ruling between seeing the person directly, through a film, or through a picture; because looking at the private parts applies to all of them conventionally, and all of them involve a clear means of corruption that is not hidden from those with understanding.

Therefore, the production, sale, and distribution of pornographic films and pictures is a great sin; because it spreads indecency among Muslims, and Allah Almighty has said: ﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَ أَنْ تَشِيعَ الْفَاحِشَةُ فِي الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ﴾[5]; “Indeed, those who like that indecency should spread among those who believed will have a painful punishment in the world and the Hereafter.” Rather, it appears that those who produce these films and pictures, those who sell them to Muslims, and those who distribute them widely on the internet or elsewhere are corrupters on the earth; especially considering the fact that their work leads to the weakening of the foundation of the family, the waste of lifetimes and wealth, and the decline of culture and morals. This is a clear example of spreading corruption on the earth, and the punishment of corrupters on the earth is known if they are brought before a just Imam. Therefore, it is not permissible to buy pornographic films and pictures, even if it is not for the purpose of watching them; because it is an act of helping in sin and transgression, and Allah Almighty has said: ﴿وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ﴾[6]; “And do not help one another in sin and transgression, and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is severe in punishment.” This is also the case with entering websites that display them, even if it is free of charge; because it increases the number of visits to these wicked websites and helps them to improve, expand, and earn more money and fame.
