However, consulting the People of the Book to know Islam and following them in Islamic beliefs and deeds is undoubtedly unwise, dangerous, and incompatible with the essentials of Islam; as Allah Almighty has clearly said: ﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تُطِيعُوا فَرِيقًا مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ يَرُدُّوكُمْ بَعْدَ إِيمَانِكُمْ كَافِرِينَ﴾[1]; “O you who believed! If you follow a group of those who were given the Book, they will make you disbelievers after your faith,” and: ﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى أَوْلِيَاءَ ۘ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ مِنْكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ﴾[2]; “O you who believed! Do not take Jews and Christians as friends! Some of them are friends with some others. And whoever of you takes them as friends is one of them! Allah does not guide the group of oppressors,” and: ﴿وَلَنْ تَرْضَى عَنْكَ الْيَهُودُ وَلَا النَّصَارَى حَتَّى تَتَّبِعَ مِلَّتَهُمْ ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ هُدَى اللَّهِ هُوَ الْهُدَى ۗ وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ بَعْدَ الَّذِي جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ ۙ مَا لَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ﴾[3]; “And Jews and also Christians will never be pleased with you until you follow their religion! Say: ‘The guidance of Allah is the true guidance.’ And if you follow their desires after the knowledge that came to you, there will be no guardian or helper for you from Allah.’” Especially considering that Jews and Christians, although they have had some principles in common with Muslims, have practically lost their commitment to their principles for centuries and have replaced the beliefs and deeds of their Prophets with those of atheists. Rather, it is evident that modern Judaism, under the influence of some historical events and the power dynamic in the last century, has largely lost its religious nature and has become almost political in character. Similarly, Modern Christianity, whether in the field of beliefs or in the field of deeds, has no perceptible distinction from the religions of polytheists, and nothing of the beliefs and deeds of divine religions has remained in it.
