It goes without saying that all these sects, regardless of the good faith and scholarly diligence of their leaders, share the principle of belief in the legitimacy of the Umayyad current and disregard for the Hashemite current, and this has been the reason why they have enjoyed the support of oppressive rulers for more than the past thousand years; the support that by using coercion, domination, and widespread propaganda has been able to propagate the idea of blocking the door of ijtihad and the necessity of imitating one of the four sects, and thus to obstruct the return of the Hashemites to power and the emergence of independent Islamic currents.

It is hereby understood that returning to the pure and perfect Islam is possible only after turning away from the Umayyad sects and abandoning trust in narrators and scholars affiliated with the Umayyads and the Abbasids, which, of course, are very difficult except for those who are submissive to the truth and those whom God has guided; as He has said: ﴿وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ[1]; “And it is indeed difficult except for the submissive,” and said: ﴿وَإِنْ كَانَتْ لَكَبِيرَةً إِلَّا عَلَى الَّذِينَ هَدَى اللَّهُ[2]; “And it was, of course, difficult except for those whom God has guided.”

6. Moral decadence

Another cause of non-establishment of Islam after the Messenger of God was deterioration of Islamic morality and the prevalence of carnal vices among Muslims after him; because most of them after him forgot many of the moral teachings of Islam and returned to their pre-Islamic characteristics in the past; as God had warned them against it and said: ﴿وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ ۚ أَفَإِنْ مَاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ انْقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَى أَعْقَابِكُمْ ۚ وَمَنْ يَنْقَلِبْ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَنْ يَضُرَّ اللَّهَ شَيْئًا ۗ وَسَيَجْزِي اللَّهُ الشَّاكِرِينَ[3]; “And Muhammad is but a Messenger, before whom other Messengers passed; so if he dies or is killed, will you revert to your old ways?! While whoever reverts to his old ways will not harm God in the least, and God will reward the grateful.”

Moral vices such as worldliness, fanaticism, selfishness, envy, malice, and love of power were all pre-Islamic characteristics that quickly appeared among the Sahabah of the Messenger of God after him, forcing them to disagree with each other and deviate from the path of Islam.
