It must not lose its color due to the overshadowing of conventional and unreal matters, to the extent that, after the necessity of friendship with Allah, nothing in Islam is clearer than the necessity of enmity toward disbelievers; as Allah Almighty has said: ﴿قَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ فِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ إِذْ قَالُوا لِقَوْمِهِمْ إِنَّا بُرَآءُ مِنْكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَاءُ أَبَدًا حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ﴾[1]; “Undoubtedly, there is a good example for you in Ibrahim and those who were with him, when they said to their people: ‘We disavow you and what you worship other than Allah. We disbelieved in you, and there appeared between us and you enmity and hatred forever, until you believe in Allah the One.’” Therefore, it is clear that following disbelievers has no place in Islam and is not permissible in any context or with any excuse; as Allah Almighty has said: ﴿فَلَا تُطِعِ الْكَافِرِينَ﴾[2]; “So do not obey disbelievers,” and: ﴿فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴾[3]; “So do not obey deniers.”

[The Necessity of Disbelievers Following Muslims]

Rather, it is, in fact, disbelievers who must follow Muslims; as Allah Almighty has said: ﴿رُبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِمِينَ﴾[4]; “Perhaps those who disbelieved wish that they were Muslims”; because it is evident that most disbelievers, especially in Western lands, due to being distanced from the centers of civilization, are culturally in a state close to savagery and have not reached sufficient human development, thus being in need of the education and discipline of Muslims. Likewise, previously, on the sidelines of the nine Crusades, after regretting their foolish act of burning the libraries of Muslims, they adopted their empirical and mathematical sciences and brought them into their own dark and devastated lands, making them the foundation for Europe’s industrial development. However, they were not smart enough to also adopt the humanities of Muslims, and for this reason, their culture did not progress in line with their economy and remained at the same low and primitive level;
