rather, they do not care about the contradiction between a belief or ruling and the Quran if there is a narration for it, to the extent that some of their beliefs are opposed to the Quran and some of their deeds contradict it, such as their belief in seeing Allah Almighty with the eye, while it is opposed to the explicit text of the Quran, and their ruling on the occurrence of three divorces in one sitting, while it contradicts the apparent meaning of the Quran. Another cause is that they consider some books of hadith to be authentic and even compare them with the Quran and think of them as the most important basis for knowing Islam. However, they possess no greater authenticity than other books and may even be weaker than some others, and among them are weak and fabricated narrations, such as the book known as Sahih al-Bukhari, where the weakness of many of its narrations is obvious even according to the basis of Ahl al-Hadith, to the extent that denying it is nothing but obstinacy against the perceptible. Another cause is that they ignore some of the authentic narrations and consider some of them to be weak because they do not agree with their sects, even though they agree with the Quran and the intellect—such as narrations regarding the necessity of adhering to the Ahl al-Bayt—while they consider some of the weak narrations to be authentic and even accept some of the fabricated narrations because they agree with their opinions, even though they do not agree with the Quran and the intellect—such as narrations regarding the necessity of obeying oppressive rulers. Another cause is that they avoid examining the history of Islam and prevent each other from doing so; rather, they conceal or deliberately distort some of its events, lest they go astray by learning about them, while they will not be guided except by learning about them. Another cause is that they consult nothing but their own books and do not glance at the books of Muslims opposing them; rather, they avoid listening to the words of opponents and fear learning about their arguments, lest they go astray by learning about them or become aware of their own misguidance, and this is due to the doubt in which they are immersed;
