I talked about this with one of their scholars and explained to him that the sphericity of the earth and its rotation around the sun is one of the mutawatir matters, but rather of the perceptible matters doubting which is sophistry, but he told me that he will not acknowledge it even if he sees it with his own eyes; because it contradicts the narrations in their supposition! This approach, which is similar to the approach of the Church in the Middle Ages, indicates the extent of anti-intellectualism among this group, while anti-intellectualism leads to fighting against God; because the intellect is the creation of God and the only means that He has put in the human being for cognition, and therefore, opposing it means opposing the will and action of God! Those who consider the intellect a rival for Sharia neglect this great fact that the intellect and Sharia have stemmed from one source and both are the creation of one God! Is there any disagreement in the creation of the One God, and do some of His created beings contradict some others?! It is clearly not so; because God’s actions are based on wisdom and do not contradict each other; as He has said: ﴿مَا تَرَى فِي خَلْقِ الرَّحْمَنِ مِنْ تَفَاوُتٍ ۖ﴾[1]; “You do not see any discrepancy in the creation of God.” In other words, the One Who has sent Sharia is the One Who has created the intellect, and therefore, the contradiction between them is impossible. Those who consider the intellect and Sharia as opposites have unknowingly turned to polytheism have thought that the Creator of the intellect is not the Creator of Sharia! The belief in the contradiction between the intellect and Sharia is a polytheistic belief that has emerged against the monotheistic belief; because the existence of duality in the universe and the opposition between creation and legislation are acceptable only on the basis of atheism! There is no doubt that Sharia agrees with the intellect and clearly acknowledges it, but rather it calls toward it and warns those who abandon it; as for example, it has said: ﴿إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ﴾[2]; “We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so that you may use your intellects,” and said: ﴿كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ﴾[3]; “This is how God explains His signs to you so that you may use your intellects,”
