[1]; “And He sent down the Book to you in truth, confirming the books that were before it, and as a guardian over it.” Based on this, belief in the Prophethood of Musa and Isa (peace be upon them) is possible only for one who believes in the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family), and is uncertain and unfounded for one who does not believe in the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family).

[Muslims Are the Followers of the Last Prophet]

Moreover, it is clear that the followers of every Prophet—since they submitted to Allah’s will concerning that Prophet, and to the satisfaction and dissatisfaction He revealed to them through him—were Muslims until a new Prophet came to them. At that point, those among them who submitted to Allah’s will concerning the new Prophet, and to the satisfaction and dissatisfaction He revealed to them through him, remained true to their Islam, and those among them who did not do so abandoned their Islam and became apostates. This is because the concept of Islam is submitting to the will of Allah, and its practical expression is accepting all His Prophets—without distinction—and following the last Prophet; as Allah Almighty has said: ﴿قُولُوا آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَالْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَى وَعِيسَى وَمَا أُوتِيَ النَّبِيُّونَ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ[2]; “Say: ‘We believed in Allah and in what was revealed to us, and in what was revealed to Ibrahim, Isma‘il, Ishaq, Ya‘qub, and the Asbat (the descendants of the twelve sons of Ya‘qub), and in what was given to Musa and Isa, and in what was given to all the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims for Him.’” Based on this, those who followed Musa (peace be upon him) after his emergence did not become Jews, but rather embraced Islam—until Isa (peace be upon him) emerged for them. At that time, those among them who rejected Isa (peace be upon him) renounced their Islam, and those among them who followed Isa (peace be upon him) remained true to their Islam—until Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) emerged for them.
