and: ﴿وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ ۚ وَذَلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ[1]; “And they were not commanded except to rightfully worship Allah by making the religion pure for Him, to perform prayer, and to pay Zakat. And that is indeed the upright religion.” This clearly indicates that worshiping Allah with a religion that has not been purified for Him and is mixed with beliefs and rulings originating from other than Him is insufficient and does not pertain to His command. From here, the invalidity or unacceptability of acts of worship based on conjecture or mixed with innovations is understood; because conjectures are not part of Islam, and a single innovation in worship nullifies all of it.

2. Establishing the Entirety of Islam

In addition to establishing the original form of Islam in a pure manner, free from inauthentic beliefs and rulings, it is necessary to establish the entirety of Islam in a perfect manner, free from fragmentation and preference; because Islam is an interrelated and cohesive whole, like a precise system and a chain of interlinked rings, where each part has been legislated with consideration of the other parts, in such a way that, without the other parts, its legislation would not have been possible and might even have defeated the purpose. It is like the beads of a Tasbih, each made as a part of the whole, and none holding value on its own or being beneficial except within the whole. Therefore, the existence of its parts is contingent on the existence of the whole, and with the disappearance of the whole, its parts will also vanish. Similarly, the parts of Islam have been legislated with regard to its entirety, and they are not beneficial except when the entirety of it is established. Rather, if the entirety of it is not established, the establishment of some parts of it individually may even be harmful—like medicines that a doctor prescribes with consideration of their combination, where taking some of them separately from others is dangerous; as Allah Almighty has said: ﴿وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۙ وَلَا يَزِيدُ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا[2]; “And We sent down from the Quran that which is a healing and mercy for believers, but it does not increase oppressors except in loss.” This means that the Quran, although naturally conducive to healing and mercy, is harmful to oppressors who do not establish it in its entirety or in part.
