Therefore, people of knowledge should desist from their ignorant arrogance, not assume themselves to ﴿بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ; “have knowledge of everything,” and remember the statement of Allah Almighty, where He has said: ﴿نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَاتٍ مَنْ نَشَاءُ ۗ وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِي عِلْمٍ عَلِيمٌ[1]; “We raise in rank whomever We will, and there exists a more knowledgeable person above every possessor of knowledge.” Similarly, their followers should not say: “It is impossible for the truth to be hidden from them and revealed to someone else,” for this is a false and baseless statement that is incompatible with both the intellect and Sharia; rather, it contradicts what is perceived and experienced.

[The Arrogance of People of Power and Wealth]

This rule also applies to people of power and wealth; because knowing the truth is not linked to power and wealth. Rather, it is evident that the greatest power and wealth are held by those who have a lesser understanding of the truth, and therefore, their refusal to know the truth due to their power and wealth is irrational. Rather, because of their power and wealth, they should make a greater effort to know the truth so that, due to their unfamiliarity with it and their possession of power and wealth, they do not cause greater harm to themselves and society, nor unknowingly and unintentionally become a source of loss for Muslims. This means that powerful and wealthy Muslims should strive more than others to know the truth and should not refuse to accept it out of fear that their power and wealth may diminish; because their power and wealth are meant to secure their happiness in the world and the Hereafter, and if they fail to do so, they hold no real value or benefit, and clearly, the happiness of the world and the Hereafter is conditional on knowing and accepting the truth. Also, the source of power and wealth in the world is Allah, and whoever connects with Allah has connected to the source of power and wealth in the world; conversely, whoever separates from Him has separated from the source of power and wealth in the world. This is the opposite of what is often assumed; as Allah Almighty has said:
