Hadith No. 6
The Ummah is never devoid of one who fights by the command of Allah.
Translation:
Hakim al-Nishaburi [d. 405 AH] has narrated in the book al-Mustadrak Ala al-Sahihain, (in this way that) he has said: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub narrated to us, (he said:) Bahr ibn Nasr al-Khulani narrated to us, (he said:) Abdullah ibn Wahb narrated to us, (he said:) Amr ibn Harith informed me that Yazid ibn Abi Habib narrated to him that Abd al-Rahman ibn Shimasah narrated to him that he was with Maslamah ibn Makhlad while Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As was with him, then Abdullah said: The Day of Judgment will not come except upon the worst people, they are worse than people of the time of ignorance, they do not ask God for anything unless He turns them down. At this time, Uqba ibn Amir arrived, so Maslamah said: O Uqba! See what Abdullah says! So Uqba said: He knows about it, but I heard from the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family, who said:
“A group of my Ummah will always fight for the command of God while they will be victorious over the enemy, and one who opposes them will not harm them until the Day of Judgment comes upon them while they are in this state.”
Then Abdullah said: Yes, then God will send a wind whose scent is like the scent of musk and whose softness is like the softness of silk, so it will not leave anyone who has a little bit of faith in his heart unless it takes his soul, then the worst people will remain and the Day of Judgment will come upon them.
Consideration
Translation:
Mansoor, may God protect him, said: Muslim has narrated it in his Sahih through Ahmad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Wahb, and he has been weakened, and the way of Hakim is an authentic way, and this is another Hadith indicating that Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As narrated to people what they did not know; so it is appropriate to turn away from whatever he alone has narrated, especially when he has not attributed it to the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family, and his words that the Day of Judgment will come upon the worst people are not among the things that he alone has said, and “fighting for the command of God” in the Hadith of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family, is fighting so that the command will be for God alone, and this will not be the case unless when the commander is His Caliph on the earth, not other people, and you do not find people of the truth unless they are at war or preparing for war, and whoever is not at war or preparing for war is not one of them, and one who prepares for war is like one who fights.
