Hadith No. 3

The Ummah is never without one who is steadfast upon the truth.

رَوَى أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَزَّارُ [ت292هـ] فِي «مُسْنَدِهِ»[1]، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:

لَا تَزَالُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي عَلَى الْحَقِّ ظَاهِرِينَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ.

Translation:

Ahmad ibn Amr al-Bazzar [d. 292 AH] has narrated in his Musnad, (in this manner that) he has said: Abu Kurayb narrated to us, he said: Abu Mu‘awiyah narrated to us, he said: Isma‘il narrated to us, from Qays, from Sa‘d, meaning ibn Abi Waqqas, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family), who said:

A group from my Ummah will always be steadfast upon the truth until the Day of Judgment.

وَرَوَى ابْنُ بَطَّةَ [ت387هـ] فِي «الْإِبَانَةِ الْكُبْرَى»[2]، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْبَخْتَرِيِّ الرَّزَّازُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ الْعُطَارِدِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تَزَالُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي ظَاهِرَةً عَلَى الدِّينِ عَزِيزَةً إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ».

Translation:

Also, ibn Battah [d. 387 AH] has narrated in the book al-Ibanah al-Kubra and said: Abu Ja‘far Muhammad ibn Amr ibn al-Bakhtari al-Razzaz narrated to us, he said: Ahmad ibn Abd al-Jabbar al-Utaridi narrated to us, he said: Abu Mu‘awiyah narrated to us, from Isma‘il ibn Abi Khalid, from Qays, from Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) said: “A group from my Ummah will always be steadfast upon the religion with honor until the Day of Judgment.”

Verse No. 9Earth has never been unless there has been an Imam on it who would prohibit corruption on it.“So why were there no remaining ones from the generations before you who would prohibit corruption on Earth, except for a few of those whom We saved among them?!” (Hud/ 116)

Verse No. 17“Indeed, there are two witnesses between the Prophet and his nation: the Book of Allah and one who has knowledge of the Book. And he is Allah’s caliph among them after the Prophet.”“Say: ‘Allah and one who has knowledge of the Book are sufficient as witnesses between me and you’” (Ar-Ra‘d/ 43)

So whoever strives against them with his hand is a believer, and whoever strives against them with his tongue is a believer, and whoever strives against them with his heart is a believer, and there is no faith—even to the weight of a mustard seed—in anyone other than them” the Hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud
