Verse No. 6

“The Earth is never devoid of a truthful person whom believers must be with.”

قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى:

﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ﴾[1]

Translation:

Allah Almighty has said:

“O you who believed! Fear Allah and be with the truthful.”

Consideration

أَخْبَرَنَا جُبَيْرُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ الْخُجَنْدِيُّ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ الْمَنْصُورَ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: ﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ﴾، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الْأَرْضَ لَا تَخْلُو مِنْ صَادِقٍ مَفْرُوضٍ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْ يَكُونُوا مَعَهُ، لَا يَتَقَدَّمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَلَا يَتَأَخَّرُوا، فَمَنْ مَاتَ وَلَيْسَ مَعَ صَادِقِ زَمَانِهِ فَقَدْ مَاتَ عَاصِيًا لِرَبِّهِ، وَهَذَا مَقْصُودُ أُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ إِذْ يَقُولُونَ: رَبَّنَا ﴿وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الْأَبْرَارِ﴾[2]!

Translation:

Jubayr ibn Ata’ al-Khujandi informed us, he said: I asked Mansoor about the statement of Allah Almighty Who says: “O you who believed! Fear Allah and be with the truthful.” So, he said: “The Earth is never devoid of a truthful person whom believers must be with, neither going ahead of him nor falling behind him. So, whoever dies while not being with the truthful person of his time has died in disobedience to his Lord, and this is what the wise mean, when they say: O Lord! ‘Make us die in the company of the righteous!’”
