Translation of the letter:
Beware, O people! Hear me out if you have ears to hear; because I will give you an example: Indeed, your example in the life of the world has been like that of a child who has lost his mother in the crowd, so in the hope of finding her, he grasps the skirt of any woman and follows her for a while until he sees unkindness from her and realizes that she is not his mother, so he leaves her and grasps the skirt of someone else until the darkness of the night surrounds him and its cold kills him while there is no helper for him! This has been your example in the life of the world that in the hope of achieving justice, you have got attached to any government and followed it for a while until you have seen oppression from it and realized that there is no justice in it, so you have overthrown it while shouting and turned to another government! Thus in search of justice, sometimes you have inclined to the East and sometimes to the West, sometimes you have run to the left and sometimes to the right, sometimes you have turned to Zayd and sometimes to Amr; sometimes you have got attached to monarchy and sometimes to democracy! While justice has been neither in the East nor in the West, neither in the left nor in the right, neither in Zayd nor in Amr, and neither in monarchy nor in democracy! Justice is only in the government of God Who knows your measures and places, and none but He can find a way to it, no matter how much one searches and strives, except for one whom He has guided to it, but you have despaired of His mercy and neglected His Mahdi, and therefore, you have entrusted the government that He has wanted for His Mahdi to those for whom He has not wanted any government! It is as if the government is the inheritance of your fathers that you take it from whomever you want and give it to whomever you want, and it is as if it does not belong to God Who has said: ﴿قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ مَالِكَ الْمُلْكِ تُؤْتِي الْمُلْكَ مَنْ تَشَاءُ وَتَنْزِعُ الْمُلْكَ مِمَّنْ تَشَاءُ﴾; “Say: ‘O God! You are the Owner of dominion! You give dominion to whomever You will and take dominion from whomever You will,’” and He has given it to Ibrahim, made it a covenant with those of his descendants who would not do oppression, and said: ﴿وَإِذِ ابْتَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَبُّهُ بِكَلِمَاتٍ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّ ۖ قَالَ إِنِّي جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًا ۖ قَالَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ۖ قَالَ لَا يَنَالُ عَهْدِي الظَّالِمِينَ﴾; “And when his Lord tested Ibrahim with some words, then he fulfilled them, He said: ‘I am going to appoint you as an Imam for people!’ He said: ‘And also my descendants?’ He said: ‘My covenant does not reach the oppressors,’” and those of his descendants who would not do oppression are those whom God has wanted to remove any impurity from them and make them completely pure, and they are in the Book of God the Ahl al-Bayt of Muhammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family, and it is hereby understood that the Mahdi of God is from the family of Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and the Ahl al-Bayt of Muhammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family, and whoever chooses a ruler other than him has gone far astray.
It is surprising that people in every time have pledged allegiance to someone, made the covenant of guardianship with someone, and have not known that none can handle it or do it justice except for one whom God has guided and enabled to do so! They have demanded justice from people that justice has not been with them, and expected from their rulers a work that has not been in their power! How can act justly among people one who does not know people’s measures, nor is he aware of their places, but rather he does not know his own measure and is out of his own place?! How can act justly one who is unjust and is sitting in the place of someone else, and how can reform one who is corrupt and has dragged the world into corruption?! Did people not travel through the earth, and did they not see the end of their fathers who knelt before every government and kissed the hands of every ruler, begging for a sip of justice, but none of them had mercy on their thirst or gave them a sip of justice?! While I swear to God, they were thirstier than to be quenched with a sip, and nothing can quench them but a big river! So what has happened that, since the first day, the friends of God have always been ruled over and the friends of Satan rulers?! The sons of the Prophets have always been sitting in homes and the sons of claimants on pulpits?! The leaders of faith have always been unassisted and the leaders of disbelief aided?! If there has been a palace, it has always been for oppressors, and if there has been a hut, it has always been for the pure! If there has been power, it has always been for polytheists, and if there has been migration, it has always been for the Prophets! If there has been an allegiance, it has always been for the likes of Yazid, and if there has been martyrdom, it has always been for those like Husain! If there has been a government, it has always been for the misguided, and if there has been an occultation, it has always been for the guided! What is this disgrace that has pervaded history, and what is this madness that has taken over the world?! Do people not have eyes to see that all their rulers do oppression and do not act justly?! Or do they not have ears to hear that their politicians are all lying and do not speak the truth?! Or do they not have the intelligence to realize that all their leaders mislead and do not lead?! Then how long will this festering wound be open, and how long will this madness continue?! Beware, O people! Tell me! How long should you stagger from right to left and from left to right like a drunk man until you finally understand that the right and the left are the same for you and there is no justice in either?! Tell me! How many other governments must you try, and how much obedience should you pay the price for until you finally realize that no government but the government of God will bring you to justice, and no obedience but the obedience to His Caliph will save you from oppression?! Is this experience of thousands of years not enough?! Are these heavy prices not enough?! Did you not hear out the likes of Nimrod and Pharaoh? Did you not tolerate the likes of Khosrow and Caesar?! Did you not see caliphs and kings?! Did you not try republics and Islamics?! Then have you not learned your lesson yet?! How long will you rub salt into this old wound?! And how long will you continue this historical madness?!
Beware, O cruel kings and commanders who shed the blood of the oppressed to gain and maintain power! Beware, O hypocritical jurists and sheikhs who unrightfully consider yourselves the appointees of God and the ones in authority over Muslims! Beware, O greedy politicians who vie to reach the government! Beware, O cunning political parties who seek nothing but power! Beware, O corrupt sects and groups who strive to achieve superiority on the earth! Leave these troubled people alone, and go away from between them and their owner! Are thousands of years of oppression and corruption not enough?! Is a history of ignominy and wretchedness not enough?! Are you not tired of stirring up evil and fitnah during this long time?! Then when will you end this childish game?! Then when will you stop these repetitive methods?!
Now bring your ears close to hear; because I am a caller calling out from a nearby place: O people! Is it not time that you returned to your origin?! Is it not time that you remembered the covenant of God with your father Adam?! Is it not time that you returned the trust to the one who deserves it and handed over the government to its owner?! Do you still have hope in these colorful governments? Do you still think that if Amr comes to power instead of Zayd, things will be settled?! How many the likes of Amr came to power instead of the likes of Zayd, but things were not settled; because their settlement was from something else, and you were heedless! So how long will you sit in the hope of this and that and raise the flag of this and that?! How long will you humiliate yourselves and kiss the hands of this and that?! How long will false promises deceive you and long desires play you?! How long will you turn around an axis like donkeys in a mill and think that you are making progress?!
Beware, O people! How is it that for thousands of years, you have backed every imperfect animal and have not given your hands to the perfect human?! How is it that for thousands of years, you have sucked every moisture and left the sweet sea?! How is it that for thousands of years, you have run after every mirage and have not taken a step toward palatable water?! Will you not come to your senses and return to your origin?! Will you not wake up from sleep, and will this nightmare not end?! Will you not come out of darkness, and will this dark night not have dawn?! Will you not sober up from drunkenness, and will this confusion not go away from the head?! Will you not open your eyes, move suddenly, and stand on your feet?! Will you not raise your heads and see nothing but that which is in front of your feet?! I see you were suckled from the breast of ignorance and raised on the lap of oppression, and your flesh and blood do not know me! Beware, do not let your lack of knowing me force you to not answer my invitation; because I am your well-wishing brother who invites you toward the truth, so listen to my call when I call to you: Come back, return to Islam; because you have strayed too far from it! You have got far away from your origin and forgotten yourselves! You have abandoned your intellects and become like children and madmen! You have broken the covenant of God and neglected the inheritance of His Prophet; the covenant He made with your father Ibrahim, and the inheritance about which he said: «مَا إِنْ تَمَسَّكْتُمْ بِهِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدِي»; “If you hold firmly to those two, you will never go astray after me!” So you have neglected it and gone far astray after him; to the extent that you have left the orchard and pastured a barren land, forsaken the sweet sea and sucked moisture, avoided clean food and eaten carrion, thrown away pure honey and chewed a bitter apple, and turned away from God’s government and submitted to Satan’s government! While the orchard is better for you than a barren land, the sweet sea is better for you than moisture, clean food is better for you than carrion, pure honey is better for you than a bitter apple, and God’s government is better for you than Satan’s government!
Beware! Do not entrust your guidance to anyone other than Mahdi; because no one asks the blind about the way or sails with a holed ship! Do you then seek a government other than the government of God?! While justice is found only in the government of God; the government that will be realized by His guided Caliph, not by others, and caliphs, kings, and jurists are the same in this matter, except that they differ in the method of oppression, and some do oppression more than some others; like killers who all kill, except that some strangle, some decapitate, and some give poison!
Listen to my word; because you will not hear a word better than that: Your world will not be reformed except with justice, your Hereafter will not be rectified except with justice, justice will not be possible except with the Mahdi’s government, and the Mahdi’s government will not be established except with your help, but most of you do not know!
Explanation of the letter:
O you servant of God! If your heart is not yet blinded in the darkness of fitnahs, then look at this enlightening advice to find the path of salvation, know the one who leads to it, realize that his invitation is the manifest truth, and every invitation other than that in our time is a misleading invitation. Then read it to everyone close to you and convey it to other people as much as you can so that they may answer it as you do, stop cooperating to maintain the government of taghut, turn to cooperating to establish the government of God, prepare the ground for the advent of God’s Caliph, the Mahdi, with their wealth and their lives, and reach the happiness of the world and the Hereafter after a long period of misery.
